Langkawi Geopark Centre

We transformed complex ecological data into an immersive spatial journey. By utilizing the facility’s high-dome architecture to suspend large-scale mesh graphics, we shifted the experience from "viewing posters" to "entering an ecosystem." The result is a multi-sensory exploration of Langkawi’s birds, rainforests, and geology.

Design Challenge

Our primary challenge is distilling dense, technical content into an engaging and digestible user experience.

Expert-based Curation

The content was developed through extensive research, combining academic literature and digital archives with field insights from 'service safaris' and direct consultations with naturalists.

Narrative-Driven Spatial Design

We organized the content into five core pillars: Mangroves, Birds, Rainforest, Geology, and the Geopark. By splitting the gallery into two interconnected zones, we created a non-linear journey. This layout allows visitors to start from either entrance without losing the narrative thread.

Geo Quiz for Kids

I designed this app to support the resort’s digital initiative. To streamline development, I collaborated with the engineering team to create a standardized interface template, successfully reducing both production costs and time-to-market.

Graphic Posters

Simplifying data:
  • Use infographics to explain complex information
  • Break down content into bite-sized
  • Slip in fun-facts between heavy topics

Design Trade Offs

Challenge: Space was tight, forcing us to place posters above a child's eye level.
Solution: We used bold images and giant headlines to make sure the content remained clear from any height.

The Canopy Experience

To bring Langkawi’s 200+ bird species to life, we suspended photos from the ceiling to mimic a real bird-watching experience. The layout was carefully spaced to allow visitors to wander naturally through the 'flock.'

︎︎︎Measurable Growth in Visitor Traffic and Digital Engagement

The Memo Wall turned passive visitors into active contributors. By driving engagement across all age groups, the installation deepened the resort’s connection to its Geopark setting and and solidified the resort’s positioning as an immersive gateway to the Langkawi UNESCO Global Geopark.
